RAUSCHKASSETTE is a collaborative work by RoN Schmidt & Max Würden, created over several years of focused experimentation. At its core lies a simple, uncompromising decision: to treat noise not as a by-product of sound, but as the primary material from which an entire narrative can be built.
Side A forms this narrative.
Composed almost entirely from noise, it traces a movement from cosmic turbulence through shifting, granular textures and gradually returns to a quieter, grounded state. What begins as an abstract field of energy develops into a subtle, atmospheric descent — a story told without words, shaped only through texture, density and motion.
Side B shifts the perspective.
Here, the noise recedes and remains only as a distant imprint in the sound field. Out of this residue emerges a 45-minute meditative ambient piece — spacious, slow and restorative. It feels less like a continuation and more like the reverberation of the first act: a long exhale after the storm.
The release appears as a strictly limited edition of 44 tapes, each numbered and signed, housed in a black metal box. Included are 10 photography prints documenting instruments, notes and fragments from the work process, small traces of the material world behind a very immaterial piece of sound art.
RAUSCHKASSETTE follows one continuous movement:
a passage through shifting landscapes of noise toward a space of quiet, meditative stillness.
